Sponsor Spotlight: Toot’s
I first learned about Toot’s restaurant when I asked a friend in an assisted living facility where I could take her for her birthday. “Toot’s,” she said without hesitation. “It’s my very favorite restaurant, but I never get to go there.”
We each had a plateful of crab legs, some of the best I’ve ever had, and followed it up with a shared slice of their Southern Style Cheesecake with strawberries. Alas, they no longer serve the crab legs, but their menu is nonetheless extensive and offers plenty of other deliciousness, including ribs, wings, salads, sandwiches & burgers, shrimp & oyster baskets, and desserts.
In addition to the usual tea and soft drinks, there’s beer on tap, plus wine and other adult beverages (Happy Hour is 8 PM to closing every night). Check it out on their interactive home page. This thing is like a video game; click on the relevant portion of the screen, and it will either take you to the appropriate page or show you a pop-up of what you’re looking for. The menu is in the upper right corner.
Toot’s has an interesting history. It opened in 1985 and has had connections with a number of celebrities, including Hank Williams Jr, who filmed part of “Monday Night Football” there, and Wolfman Jack, who visited Toot’s in 1993 when he received the key to the city of Murfreesboro.
It’s a family-friendly restaurant, with an on-site Kid Zone stocked with video games and amusement park games, like that mechanical claw you maneuver to try and catch a plush toy. You can even let your kids go to the Kids’ Corner of their website and play classic games like Pacman, Tetris, and Frogger. Download one of their coloring pages for the little ones to color and turn in for a free kid’s meal, learn this here now.
Here’s what hoodielife1977 has to say on Tripadvisor: “Toot’s [is] a hometown favorite. It has a bar and grill atmosphere but very family friendly. The best thing about Toot’s is the wings. The flavor of Toot’s wing sauce is unbeatable. And if anyone says different, they are wrong.”
By the way, you can buy a bottle of that sauce to take home with you. And believe me, you’ll want to.
Thanks for being a DeadLand food sponsor, Toot’s!
